Royal Speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI

On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Green March, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, addressed a Speech to His faithful people on November 6, 2023.

« Just as the Mediterranean links Morocco to Europe, the Atlantic coast is our gateway to Africa and the Americas. Hence my keen desire to rehabilitate our national coastline, including the part in the Moroccan Sahara region bordering the Atlantic, and re-engineer this geopolitical space at the African level. My goal is to transform the Atlantic region into a space for human interaction and economic integration, and to make sure it plays a key role at continental and international levels.»

The organization and efficient management of mobility and transport of people and goods are essential conditions for the structural transformation of Africa promoted by the African Union's Agenda 2063. This organization is structured around cities and territories, areas of concentration of populations, producers and consumers.

The globalization of economic exchanges has led to the reorganization of international trade routes into true arteries centered around supply chains, with port and airport zones as their focal points. These zones are all the more attractive when they operate smoothly and ensure efficient service to the cities and territories they support.

The emergence of special economic zones, enabling the production of bonded goods for export, and of regional and pan-African logistics corridors, as well as the development of e-commerce, tend to make the organization of national and international trade more complex. This complexity means that operators are increasingly concerned not only with the articulation of different modes of transport at load break points, but also with the integration of all links in the logistics chain to create the conditions for their intermodality and interoperability, with a view to guaranteeing the continuity and security of the movement of goods from points of production to points of consumption or use (Door-to-Door).

This complexity is growing as the requirements of both operators and users/beneficiaries of the movement of goods along the supply chain increase, in terms of security, respect for integrity, maintaining the quality of goods, tracking their movements, handling at load break points, and the security of handling or transshipment operations. This is why the traceability and security of goods movements along the logistics chain, as well as the coverage of associated risks, have become a major concern for most operators as well as users/beneficiaries. The use of technology to ensure traceability has become a necessity, and the speed of the digital transformation of supply chain operators now explains the success or failure of many operators in the sector.
